About the Course

In the last decade transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) individuals have become increasingly visible in our families, culture, and public discourse. This course explores the concept of gender identity for people who are curious about the nature of gender, the process of gender affirmation, or changing social dynamics. Participants will learn the unique challenges faced by the TGNC population as well as develop the skills to build inclusive spaces in all spheres of their life. This course was developed under the Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education at the University of Minnesota....

I signed up for this course because I had run into this issue and did not understand. I used this course to learn about this and become more comfortable with things. It is very informative and in clear language that I could understand.

This was a great class but....many of the links for the additional resources (and some of the required reading) led to sites that required a subscription to read. It would be good to find more current sites for this class.

I am really liking the course. The reason for my low rating is the very large number of broken links in the course (at a guess, around 12-15). I found so many that it got tiresome. I reported some broken links via the reporting button to assist course editors, but then it seemed to mess up my progress as if I hadn't read/viewed the links (I searched them and was able to fond some of them this way), so I stopped reporting them. Disappointing.

What I loved were the vast range of opinions, experiences and faces of gender non-conformity issues. I feel my understanding has grown greatly.

This course is very important and informative but I wish more of the links to readings still worked or didn’t need a subscription to read. I would also like to see some of the readings more current. In an area of great changes 10 year old articles are now historical.

Very good information, but many of the links to articles or videos were not able to be found. If this stays up and available for use, please check the links and update or delete them.

The course is good, but peer graded assignments are not. You can't get a course certificate until someone reviews your assignment. If no one reviews it, you can't earn a certificate.

Content is good, but there are too many issues with the questions and the design to allow learners to progress.

The content is good; but the videos are not great quality and many links are now dead.

There was a lot of information and the content was good. Not 5 stars because the course is not properly maintained. There were so many broken links that I lost count. There are posts on the discussion boards mentioning this going back 3-4 years. Based on that, it's obvious there is no inclination for anyone to correct them. Also, it's getting to the point where some content needs to be replaced with new content. Many things are from 8-10 years ago.
