Wow, can you believe it's been four weeks since we started our mission to build a bee colony on Mars? I'm so happy that you stuck with us on this buzzing journey, and as a final piece to the buzzle, I mean puzzle, let's talk about the well architected tool. Before we dive into the tool, we have to mention the actual well architected framework. It is designed to help architects, developers, and users of AWS to both secure high-performing, resilient, and efficient infrastructure for their applications. It's composed of five pillars to ensure a consistent approach to reviewing of architectures and designing for scaling over time, and since this is part of my day job, I'll tell you the pillars right now. It's cost optimization, operational excellence, reliability, performance efficiency, and security. You're probably wondering why I named them out of order. Well, I like to use this handy acronym to remember them, corps or C-O-R-P-S. Now, you can be an architect like me too. In the past, you'd need to evaluate these against your AWS infrastructure with the help of a solutions architect. But we listened to customer feedback and decided to release it as a self-service tool. You can now access it via the AWS consol, create a workload, and run it against your AWS account to generate a report showing areas that should be addressed. It's similar to the traffic light system with AWS Inspector, with green being, "Hey, okay captain, keep up the good work." Orange being, "You should probably look into this, because there's room for improvement," and red being, "Okay, you've got to address this, else you're going to be sent to the principal's office," and by principal, we mean the principal essay. You see what I did there? Now but seriously, these are the areas where the tool is detected potential issues and provides you with a plan on how to design using established best practices. If we take a look at the tool itself, you'll see something similar to the following screenshot. As I mentioned, we name our workload and that appears in section 1. Section 2 shows you the pillars and drop-downs into the questions for each. Section 3 shows you the actual questions themselves, four is pillar and questions stem, five is a bit of background and recommendation, six is the answer you provide with the toggle to dictate whether the question is applicable or not. This is important as it affects your overall score and I can't forget about section 7 where you'll be presented with short videos explaining how to answer a particular question. In the performance efficiency pillar, you'll notice that this handsome gentleman is your guide. Man, that dude is cool, I wish I could be more like him. Anyway thanks for going along with us in the secure Journey to the Red Planet, and good luck while securing your workloads in the future, and since we're so nice, we'll leave you with one final quiz.
