In this last module of this course, we will uncover various creative efforts to determine what makes for the best images and graphic elements for corporate branding and imaging. By the end of this module, you will be able to recognize the ideal and less than ideal, combinations of graphics and text to create either a web or sponsorship ad. To practice the colors and graphic image skills learned in the other modules, your final project in this course will be to create an advertisement. You can either pick a web banner ad if you are interested in practicing your design skills with an online electronic design piece, or you can pick a sponsorship advertisement that would appear in a printed medium such as a play or sports program. If you pick the web banner ad, here's some design elements you need to consider. Before you even pick wording or images, you need to consider layout and the size of the banner. Layout refers to horizontal or vertical. This is your choice, but maybe it takes some time to look at the web banner ads that show up as you're online to get some ideas. As for size, you can see in this example, that there are various pixelated seismic for web advertisements. But you need to pick a size that is standard, not just some random size. Here's another example of various sizes you can pick based on pixel measurements. When deciding on colors, you may want to think of the emotions that some colors evoke. Since answer is given seconds if not less time when users look at them, color options can have more meaning than you think. For instance, reds can be excitement passion or danger, yellows can give warmth, cheer, happiness, greens are those natural freshness, and growth, and gold is prestige, expensive, and elegant. For file and for image files on your web ad, you will want to pick PNG or JPEG images. As for saving your web banner ad, be sure to save it as a JPEG or better yet, submit a PDF version via the Coursera class site for your peers to download. PDFs are just more universal option for everyone to hopefully be able to open. If you pick the sponsorship ad option, here's some factors you need to consider, which are similar to the same ones for the web ad. First of all, a sponsorship ad is something you might see in a program for a play or other event. The layout is determined by the advertising space you buy. So when it comes to the size of sponsorship ads, the exact dimension will vary depending on the size of the program. But here are some common ways pages are divided up in programs. When deciding on colors, much like the banner ad, you may want to think of emotions that some colors evoke. However, there is often a black and white only auction ad which usually tend to be cheaper. So keep in mind the contrast of the shades of gray and black if you use one of those scan ads. For images in your ads, much like web ads, you'll want to pick JPEG or PNG images, but you will want to pick high resolution images since they will need to be used in a printed piece. If you use logos in your ad, EPS files will work best. As for saving your sponsorship ad, save it and submit a PDF version via the Coursera site for your peers to download and review. Whether you select a web banner ad or sponsorship ad, be sure to also keep in mind the principles of design noted in course 1 and on the peer review rubric. The design principles are balance and alignment, repetition and consistency, contrast and color, proximity and space, will apply to either ad option you pick. Good luck on your designs.
