Yes, it’s the same as the on-campus program. Upon program completion, you will receive your diploma. It is a degree conferred for a Master of Science in Information Systems, and your diploma won’t mention "online" or "Coursera".
No, you will not earn university credit. After completing this specialization, you'll be eligible to join the Online MS in Informations Systems performance-based admission pathway.
The Northeastern University Fast App is a performance-based admissions process which allows you to earn graduate admission by completing real coursework. No need to gather application materials. No need to wait for an admissions decision. Let your performance in your coursework serve as your application into your graduate program.
After submitting the fast app, eligible learners will get access to two performance-based admissions courses (pathway courses) for the next start date (Spring, Summer, Fall). Get a B or better in both pathway courses and submit the official transcript of your admissible degree by the time you complete the courses and you'll continue into the full degree program the next term.
Yes. The courses from the Fast App Degree pathway are from the MSIS program and will be applied to the full degree program once completed with a B or better.
Yes. When you’ve completed the program, you’ll be invited to attend the graduation ceremony on the Northeastern campus.
As an online student, you are welcome to visit the campus if you are in the area (local health requirements and restrictions permitting). Many of the on-campus resources will also be made available to you in an online format.
Applicants who are non-U.S. citizens or non-U.S. permanent residents, regardless of the applicant’s undergraduate language of instruction must submit official TOEFL, IELTS, and/or Duolingo scores. TOEFL iBT and TOEFL Home Edition are acceptable.
There's no application fee for the fast app. There's a $100 application fee to apply through the traditional graduate application.
Students in the online MSIS program can request a Husky Card be sent via mail or go to an NU campus to have one created.

The MSIS Bridge program (formerly called Rise) is a way to bridge the tech gap for anyone who hasn't taken the conventional route into the MS in Information Systems program.
Upon submission of the course enrollment form, you are officially a Northeastern student and enrolled in your selected course(s) to start the next term! You will receive an email from our success manager, Katie Freedman, to introduce herself, provide you with information about the mandatory onboarding course, how to pay your bill, and help you prepare to start your program. If you have any questions or issues regarding your enrollment, academic plan, or transition to the university, Katie will be your first point of contact.
If you do not plan to start classes, you will need to inform Katie of your intention to withdraw in order to avoid any payment or transcript impacts.
To be eligible for graduate study at Northeastern University as a degree-seeking student, you are required to have completed one of the following degrees: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, First Professional Degree (JD, MD). If you join the program through the Fast App, you only need to show proof of completion of one of these degrees, no need to worry about field of study or GPA. You'll receive more information on how to submit your credentials after starting your pathway courses.
The Canada Scholarship Program is a new pilot initiative launching Fall 2024 that aims to help support learners who are Canadian Citizens and/or Canadian Permanent Residents. This program is offered online through Northeastern University's Boston Campus and is not affiliated with Northeastern’s global campus system, including its locations in Toronto or Vancouver.
